2024 SSI Open Water Diver Course

Prerequisites:

• This globally accepted certification program is the best way to begin your lifelong adventure as a certified diver. Personalized training is combined with in-water practice modules to ensure you have the skills and experience you need to feel comfortable underwater. You'll earn your SSI Open Water Diver certification.
• This is the first license required to enter the world of scuba diving, and once you have it, you can dive anywhere in the world. We recommend that you accumulate your diving experience to the Advanced Diver level or above, so that you can dive at your own pace and enjoy your diving to the fullest.
• If you are over 10 years old and in good health, please refer to SSI's Health Declaration and Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risk, and if you have any health conditions, you must be approved by a doctor to obtain a certificate before taking the diving course.
• Students younger than 15 years old will be certified as Junior Open Water Divers and can dive under the direct supervision of a dive professional, or a certified adult, in an environment equal to their training and recommended depth limits.
• Before the official course, you can complete the home study through the SSI eLearning digital materials, diving course must bring their own swimming trunks or swimsuit, prepare personal digital photo (life photo must also have a front photo, to provide uploading).

Course Description.

• Suggested course length: 16 - 32 hours
• The SSI Open Water Diver course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and training necessary to dive independently with an equally or more qualified dive buddy in an environment equivalent to their training and at depths shallower than 18 meters.
• Complete all knowledge development components and assessments as outlined in the Open Water Diver Instructor Manual.
• Complete the Open Water Diver Final Exam with a passing score of 80%.
• Complete all pool/calm water units and skill assessments as outlined in the Open Water Diver Instructor Manual.
• Complete the waterborne assessment as outlined in the SSI Training Standards. The waterborne assessment must be completed prior to participating in any open water training dives.
• Complete a minimum of four (4) open water scuba training dives.
